Privacy policy
Last updated: 12 October 2026
PairUp is an early-access dating and social connection service for adults aged 18 and over. This policy explains how information is handled when you use PairUp.
Who to contact
PairUp is operated by emmanuel. For privacy questions, account deletion, or a request concerning your information, contact ekamcy@gmail.com and mention PairUp. This is also the support contact for the service.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address, account identifier, authentication records and session information. Email/password authentication is handled by Supabase.
- Google sign-in: when you choose Google, Google provides basic account information such as your identifier, email address, name and profile-picture information to our authentication provider. PairUp does not request access to your Gmail messages, contacts, Drive files or calendar. Your Google password is not provided to PairUp. Your dating profile and its uploaded photo are set up separately.
- Profile information: your display name, date of birth, gender, general area, dating intention, biography, interests and visibility settings, plus the photo you choose to upload.
- Interactions: likes, matches, blocks, messages and related timestamps.
- Technical information: hosting, authentication and email providers may process IP addresses, browser information, request logs and delivery records to operate and protect the service.
How we use information
We use this information to authenticate you, apply the minimum-age requirement, save your profile, show eligible profiles in Discover, manage likes and matches, deliver private messages and account emails, and investigate errors or misuse. Google account information is used for account authentication and management. We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising or training AI models.
What other members can see
Your profile is visible in Discover by default. Unless you turn off Discover visibility or pause it, signed-in members with a profile can see your display name, age, gender, dating intention, biography, interests and profile photo. Your general area is shown only if you choose not to hide it. Your email address and exact birth date are not included in discovery profiles.
Existing matches can continue to access connection information and your photo when you pause Discover. Messages are available through the app to the participants in an active match. Blocking or unmatching ends that access through the app, but does not erase information another person has already seen, copied or saved.
Service providers and access
We use Supabase for authentication, database and photo storage; Google Firebase Hosting for the web.app and firebaseapp.com websites, and Netlify for the existing netlify.app website; Resend for account email delivery; and Google if you select Google sign-in. These providers process information needed to provide their services. The current Supabase project is hosted in Stockholm; providers may also process information in other countries.
Access controls restrict member access to private account information and messages. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted. Authorized service administration may access stored information when necessary for support, security or operating the service. Information may also be disclosed where required by law.
Browser storage
The app stores authentication session information in your browser to keep you signed in. Signing out clears the active local session. Selected photos are previewed locally before upload. The separate fictional design demo stores its changes in that browser.
Premium, payments and badges
Premium plans are paid through Paystack, which handles your card or bank details. PairUp never sees or stores your card details. We keep a record of each payment (plan, amount, reference, status and date) and the dates your Premium plan runs, so we can activate it and answer payment questions.
If your plan includes it, a Premium badge shows on your profile and your profile may appear higher in Discover. If we have verified your age, a Verified badge shows on your profile. Other members can see these badges.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can edit your profile, replace or remove your photo, hide your area, turn off Discover visibility, pause discovery, block members or end a match. Your birth date cannot be changed through the profile form after its first save; contact support for a correction request.
To request access, correction or deletion of your account information, email the support address above. We may need to verify that you control the account. There is currently no self-service account-deletion button. Removing Google access in your Google account does not itself delete your PairUp account or profile.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from My profile, under Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, photos, matches, messages and uploaded files, and signs you out. Messages you sent are deleted for the other person too.
Retention and security
Account and profile information is retained while your account remains stored. Unmatching or blocking does not automatically delete historical messages from the database. Removal requests are handled through support; some records may need to be retained for security, resolving disputes or legal obligations, and provider backups or logs may expire separately. No fixed automatic deletion period is currently configured for stored accounts or message history.
We use authentication and database/storage access rules to restrict access. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Avoid including your home address or other information you do not want others to know in your profile or messages.
Adults only
PairUp is not intended for anyone under 18. If you believe an underage person has created an account, contact support so it can be investigated.
Changes to this policy
Changes will be published on this page with an updated date. Material changes to how information is used will be communicated through an appropriate service notice.
